Working with a photographer is a close and collaborative experience. Whether that’s planning your next headshots or having them as a third wheel at your wedding, it’s best to choose someone you can vibe with.

Behind the Lens

Espey Photography

Hi, I’m Jade, your friendly neighbourhood photographer.

I have always been obsessed with taking photos. From watching my grumps with his big fancy Canon, to my first camera phone and then onto taking A-Level photography.  It’s been a lifelong fascination with how photography can capture a moment and freeze it forever.

I’m a wear your heart on your sleeve sort of person and believe the world would be a boring place if we were all the same or let fear of being different hold us back. I love feeling the emotion of a wedding day and bringing out the individuality of everyone who I have the pleasure to photograph.

This is why working with me is like working with a friend.

What I stand for…

Do no harm, Take no shit

I’m a generally chilled and polite person, I can change tact from down with the kids, laughing it up with your wedding party and making nice conversations with your parents, but I don’t accept nasty behaviour towards myself or the people I work with. This is why I like to get to know people before I work with them so I know we’re a good fit for each other.

All Love should be celebrated

Can’t believe this still needs to be stated and isn’t a given by now, but unless anyone thinks it’s still up for debate- I support anyone celebrating their love, living authentically and generally getting to express themselves. My favourite way of getting to practise what I preach is working with MK Pride to bring them colourful, fun, judgment free photography and that’s all I want for all my clients.

Personality < Tradition

Now I’m not the ‘burn it all down’ kind of person, but what I mean is that tradition or ‘Social Norms’ should never get in the way of you actually expressing your personality, especially on your wedding day! I want people to feel emboldened to make their own mind up on what’s best for them and put as much of themselves into their day as they can possibly fit in!

Mental Health is taken seriously here

I lost my dad when I was young and although I don’t like to talk about that or the issues I experienced after that event changed my life, one message I always want to convey to anyone I meet that I understand that life isn’t always straight forward and that can have an effect on who we are and how we think. So whether it’s wedding stress, insecurities, anxiety, or anything else, know that I get you and I will do whatever I can to help.

Lil’ Facts About Me…

  • I Live in Milton Keynes with my Husband James and our Border Terrier Ruby Tuesday (named after the Rolling Stones song).

  • My happy place is Cornwall; I love being by the sea, the fresh air, walks across the beach, cold cider with a bowl of chips and a crab sandwich - absolutely perfect!

  • I love seeing live music, from big gigs and festivals to photographing smaller gigs at my local music venues.

  • I Love a quiz even if I’m not great at them.

  • I don’t trust people who think food is fuel; I can’t pick my favourite meal, some days it’s pizza, others it’s tapas, and I never say no to a curry.

  • Fun Fact- I got engaged at Glastonbury 2019 and was a 2022 bride, so I’ve been through the wedding planning process recently and get how stressful and wonderful planning a wedding can be.

  • I’m an unapologetic nerd. I’ve never really been embarrassed about liking stuff and particularly in the last few years I’ve been embracing my inner weirdo!

  • I have two siblings, Zoe who’s 23 and Alex who’s 10. They both utterly rock!

  • I hate super posed, over polished photos; For me I want to capture photos that feel like you, not some plastic version of you.

  • A Song that always gets more on the dance floor is Mr Brightside (I know it’s a cliché and I don’t care)
